Paediatric First Aid Course

The 2-Day Level 3 Ofsted-Approved Paediatric First Aid Course in Leeds, accredited by Qualsafe Awards, meets EYFS standards. Delivered at our centre or on-site, it equips childcare professionals with essential skills to handle paediatric emergencies and stay compliant.

This Paediatric First Aid Course is tailored to meet the requirements of the Department for Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, ensuring childcare professionals and carers are fully prepared to manage paediatric emergencies.

Important Note:

Newly qualified childcare professionals (after 30 June 2016) with Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications must obtain a full or emergency paediatric first aid certificate within three months of starting work.

Entry Requirements

Participants must be at least 14 years old and capable of performing practical tasks, including floor-level activities.

Course Content

This comprehensive course covers a wide range of paediatric emergencies, including:

  • Roles and responsibilities of paediatric first aiders.
  • Infant and child CPR with AED use.
  • Managing choking incidents.
  • Treating wounds, bleeding, and shock.
  • Dealing with unconscious casualties.
  • Managing fractures, spinal and head injuries.
  • Recognising and responding to anaphylaxis.
  • Burns, scalds, and catastrophic bleeding.
  • High temperatures, febrile seizures, and poisoning.
  • Treating bites and stings.

Certification and Validity

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, valid for three years.

What to Expect

This course equips childcare professionals and carers with the skills and confidence to handle emergencies involving children. From treating minor injuries to managing life-threatening situations like cardiac arrests, participants gain hands-on experience for all critical scenarios.
