Paediatric First Aid Course

This Paediatric First Aid Course is tailored to meet the requirements of the Department for Education’s Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework, ensuring childcare professionals and carers are fully prepared to manage paediatric emergencies.

Who Is This Course For?

• Childcare Professionals
  Ideal for those with Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualifications working in early years settings, helping meet EYFS staff-to-child ratios.
• Registered Childminders and Assistants
  Required by EYFS to hold a valid paediatric first aid certificate.
• Parents and Guardians
  Perfect for parents, grandparents, or carers looking to gain essential paediatric first aid skills to support infants and children.

Important Note:

Newly qualified childcare professionals (after 30 June 2016) with Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications must obtain a full or emergency paediatric first aid certificate within three months of starting work.

Course Details

• Location: Leeds
• Duration: 9:00 – 16:00
• Cost: £85 per person or £695 for group bookings (up to 12 learners)

Entry Requirements‍

Participants must be at least 14 years old and capable of performing practical tasks, including floor-level activities.

Course Content‍

This comprehensive course covers a wide range of paediatric emergencies, including:

• Roles and responsibilities of paediatric first aiders.
• Infant and child CPR with AED use.
• Managing choking incidents.
• Treating wounds, bleeding, and shock.
• Dealing with unconscious casualties.
• Managing fractures, spinal and head injuries.
• Recognising and responding to anaphylaxis.
• Burns, scalds, and catastrophic bleeding.
• High temperatures, febrile seizures, and poisoning.
• Treating bites and stings.

Certification and Validity‍

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Paediatric First Aid Certificate, valid for three years.
